Recently augmented reality has started to become popular among users as most of the major tech companies are releasing augmented reality based products. However, Apple has been pretty slow to adopt the phenomenon as the technology is still years away from becoming highly sought after by consumers. Despite that, if recent reports are to be believed, then the company is planning on releasing its own augmented reality headset as early as 2020. According to the latest report from Bloomberg, the device might feature an independent screen as well as integrated chipsets. However, given that this year is nearly over, the report has suggested that the timeline might not be very reliable.
While the product sounds interesting, the technology that will be implemented in the headset is not so clear at the moment. However, the report has said that Apple is exploring some pretty neat options such as voice control, panels and head gestures. As for software, it will run a different OS named ‘rOS’.
The latest report follows up on the recent rumors that suggested that Apple is working on bringing its own Apple Glasses for a while although we never really got any solid information from the company. As the technology is still far from enough to run AR experiences into lightweight products, the headset might not get 2020 release date after all. However, if the company indeed releases the headset in 2020, then Apple is expected to release an ARKit later next year. Until that happens, we will have to keep an eye out to learn more about development of the product as Augmented Reality might become highly popular in the coming years.
