Although iPhone X showcases some of the best design features of modern phones, some users are put off by the notch at the top of the screen. Few days earlier, developers released an app that would remove the notch by using a wallpaper. Interestingly, Apple has approved the application to be listed in the App store despite its strict guidelines.
As of now, you can download the application from App store for $0.99. As mentioned earlier, the application modifies your wallpaper with a black bar at the top to give you an illusion that the spot isn’t there. While the application addresses one of the contentious issues, it seemingly contradicts the company’s human interface guidelines.
The official guideline says, “Don’t mask or call special attention to key display features. Don’t attempt to hide the device’s rounded corners, sensor housing, or indicator for accessing the Home screen by placing black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Don’t use visual adornments like brackets, bezels, shapes, or instructional text to call special attention to these areas, either.”
If you are one of the users who would like to remove the notch completely but don’t want to spend money, you can wait a few more days as similar applications are likely to make their way into the App store in the coming days. On the other hand, you can grow used to the design feature with more use as well.
