In an official announcement earlier on today, Audi revealed that it will begin integrating automated toll payment technology into U.S. vehicles later this year which allow drivers to pay tolls automatically.
In the official announcement, Audi revealed that the module is built into the rearview mirror and can be controlled using the vehicle’s infotainment system. Moreover, the company revealed that the module is compatible with 98 percent of the toll infrastructure in the United States as well as those of Canada and Mexico.
In order to use the upcoming module, users will be required to create an account online through Gentex. The upcoming addition will eliminate the need to use any other device that can reduce drivers’ visibility. However, at the moment, it’s unclear which models will be getting the new module. While we will have to wait to get the latest addition, rumors suggest that Audi might start including the toll payment system with its Q8 crossover which is expected to debut later this year.
